Kathleen
This is my big sister, Kathleen! The bright-eyed Kansas girl grew up to travel the world. She worked in radio & television engineering before moving on to international work. Inspired by our childhood encounters with missionaries & visitors from other countries, plus a trip to Central America with our dad, Kathleen dedicated herself to helping people recover from wars, natural disasters & epidemics.
Peace Corps in Zaire led to teaching Peace Corps volunteers in water & sanitation. That includes digging wells & building latrines. Her later specialty was using Global Information Systems to plan responses & responsibilities for government programs & nongovernmental organizations. We sometimes tease that her memoirs would be "Disaster Zones I Have Known & Shopped In" because she made friends everywhere & always found cool items to bring home.
Between these high stress jobs, Kathleen & Mother collaborated on quilt projects & writing memoirs for Mom & Dad. Trips & construction work added to the mix. Like the rest of the family, there are always too many ideas & things to do!
Family & lots of creative goals keep Kathleen looking forward to more projects to complete. Ah, completing projects, that's always a challenge! |
